Roshini's Smocked Dresses
Roshni’s Smocked Dresses is a home run enterprise run by a young hearted senior citizen to provide livelihood to some women in dire straits during the current times.
Her name is Roshni Vijayan, living in the beautiful city of Trivandrum .
She got to know of a few families in which the bread winner had lost their job and the women who did embroidery couldn’t get work. So she decided to have a small unit to make hand embroidered and smocked frocks for little girls.
Her strong spirit to tide over any obstacle and her strong will and endurance to ignore her aging body’s aches and pains were truly admirable! As no one could stop Roshni from going ahead to create a way to assist these women in need, inspite of her age and her physical discomforts, her daughter and grand daughter, who lived in Hyderabad, came down to Trivandrum to help her embark on this risky venture ( or in her words, interesting adventure).
Hand embroidery has been Roshni’s passion right through her growing years and right through her life too and she had consistently encouraged girls from underprivileged backgrounds to pick up this art to earn a livelihood and be financially independent. She had taught many to be self reliant and become entrepreneurs in their own way.
Thus Roshini’s Smocked and Hand-embroidered frocks came into being.
